Brittany P. Smirnov, DO, FAAD, is an experienced dermatologist at Dermatology Associates of the Palm Beaches. She currently sees patients at the Delray Beach and West Palm Beach, Florida, offices.

Dr. Smirnov hails from the Washington, DC area, and after graduating high school in three years, she went on to attend Hamilton College in Upstate New York, obtaining a degree in biology and studio art. Following her undergraduate degree, Dr. Smirnov relocated back to the DC Metropolitan area to pursue a post-baccalaureate research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health, where she studied the molecular mechanisms of melanoma metastasis. She obtained her doctorate degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine graduating with Phi Beta Alpha and Sigma Sigma Xi honors.

Dr. Smirnov completed her residency training in dermatology at Broward Health Medical Center under the direction of world-renowned dermatologist and dermatopathologist Dr. Carlos Nousari. During her residency, Dr. Smirnov had the distinct honor of training with pioneers in the fields of dermoscopy, immunodermatology, dermatopathology, and cosmetic dermatology. During her training, Dr. Smirnov was awarded both the American Academy of Dermatology's (AAD) resident international grant and legislative conference scholarships. Most recently, Dr. Smirnov was featured on WPEC CBS 12 news for her role in diagnosing metastatic lung cancer in a patient that presented with a "cyst" on his back.

Dr. Smirnov has a special interest in the early detection of skin cancer and both immunobullous blistering diseases such as bullous pemphigoid, and connective tissue diseases such as lupus. She is highly skilled in medical dermatology, dermoscopy, and both cosmetic and surgical dermatology.

Committed to research, Dr. Smirnov has numerous scientific publications including those in world-renowned journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine and the Journal of Investigative Dermatology. She was credited with establishing her residency program's first dermatologic grand rounds, serves on the AAD's Education and Volunteers Abroad Committee, and was recently recognized as an AAD patient hero for her work diagnosing metastatic lung cancer in her patient.

Dr. Smirnov is and always has been passionate about science and research in dermatology and is currently serving as a sub-investigator to two clinical trials. She firmly believes research is the way to bring cutting edge technology and treatments to a controlled clinical setting and looks forward to offering her patients this benefit.

In her personal life, Dr. Smirnov is happily married to her husband, a neural data scientist at the Max Planck Florida Institute. Together, the two have two beautiful boys and spend their time working on their house, enjoying nature walks, and bird watching. Dr. Smirnov spends as much of her free time as she can painting.
